Twitter’s version of Stories rolls out
Twitter has announced the launch of a new feature called “Fleets.” In simpler words, it’s like Snapchat or Instagram Stories and the fleet disappears after 24 hours of posting. It can be text or a picture with some basic captioning.
Users will be able to see the posts, but not get to like, retweet or post public responses to them. Any replies made to Fleets on Twitter will directly appear as replies in the Direct Message tab. The feature is slowly rolling out in India after a pilot run in Brazil. Last month, Twitter had announced a gradual global release.
For now, Fleets are visible only on the Android and iOS mobile app. Since it’s rolling out gradually, ensure you’re on the latest version of the app. You’ll get the feature soon in the coming hours.
“India is important for Twitter since it is one of our largest and fastest-growing audience markets globally. We are excited to bring the Fleets experiment to India and make it one of the first three countries in the world to experience this new product,” Manish Maheshwari, MD at Twitter India said.
The social media platform believes that the new feature will improve engagement on the platform. If you’re actively posting Fleets already, the messages tab is sure to ring more often now.
Some users aren’t very excited about the new feature launch since it mimics Snapchat and Instagram Stories. But, there’s no doubt that Twitter will indeed become a lot more interesting.
